This is a story of the trials and triumphs of the Portland branch of the Fugere Clan. Also an account of the Portland Public School District, OHSU School of Dentistry and the cutest darn pre-me you ever saw.
Some of mommy’s high school friends came over for lunch and to see me. They were really fun! Sophia and Nathan even brought me a present…Betty Boop baby bag. Mommy collected Betty Boop during high school, so this was just up her block. Daniel and Tony held me with no trouble, but I guess that’s to be expected since they grew up with a little sister. That night, grandma and mommy took Bailey and I on a walk to the park. It was so cold outside that I got the chance to wear my new baby bag! I can’t believe I got the chance to wear it in California, but I was glad I did.
Every Monday at grandma’s school is football jersey day and the kids do football math. Since I was going to school on a Monday, it was very important that I wear a jersey too! But grandma and grandpa found a really cute Charger cheerleading outfit instead. It’s kind of a jersey! It was really cute. I got to visit all the teachers, and stay with mommy and grandma ALL school day! I showed up at school at 8:30 and played with all the teachers until 9. Then school started and it was time to get to work. I mostly slept and watched the students work. I tried my best to not cry, learn, and pay attention. Every now and then the students had to rock me back to sleep when I was a little too loud. But on the most part, I behaved very well! And I learned a lot about electricity and circuits!
This was my first trip to grandma’s house, and that meant picture time! Mommy and daddy, grandma and grandpa, and my uncle all went to the Red Hawk waterfall to take pictures. Great-grandma and great-grandpa would have been in the pictures too, but the weather wasn’t good when they were visiting. That’s okay, I’ll get pictures of them when I visit Arizona this summer for my 5-generation pictures: my great-great-grandparents, great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents! And then of course me makes 5 generations! : )
Oh, I was SO excited to see Santa!! A big, jolly guy who brings you presents….what could be better? Mommy dressed me up in my pretty Christmas dress and the entire family hopped into the beast (that’s grandpa’s really large excursion) to go see Santa at the mall: grandma and grandpa, mommy and daddy, great-grandma and great-grandpa, and my uncle. But when we got to the mall, there was no Santa. I was really sad. But guess why Santa wasn’t there!?!?! He was fired for being grouchy!!! He was a bad Santa. But I was really pretty in my dress. :) And that’s all that matters…
Every night, Grandma would give me a really long bath and get me all ready for bed. I just love getting baths! I get to splash and play in the water, and have a lot of fun. If I’m lucky, I can reach everything with my splashing! Grandma would soak my head in lemon flavored oil; it was better than the garlic flavored oil. After 20 minutes of soaking, grandma would brush my hair in every direction. The oil would help to get the cradle crap off my head and make me look pretty. Now if mom can keep up with the oiling, I will always look pretty.
On daddy’s birthday, I flew down to CA to visit my great-grandparents for the first time. We didn’t get home until late, but that didn’t matter. My great-grandparents were so excited to see me that we just had to wake them up. We stayed up until 2am laughing, playing, and having fun. I was so glad that they got to come down for Thanksgiving, and I can’t wait to see them again this coming summer!
Wouldn’t you know it, Oregon has a Wildlife Safari where you are in the cage and the animals roam free! Daddy drove the car and mommy held Bella and operated the camera. Two emus chased each other around the car, a giraffe stopped in the middle of the road blocking our way, a rino ran for the exit and got bribed with treats to go the other direction, a baby bison mooed at us thinking we were his mother, a camel walked us down the road, and lions and tigers and mountain lions tried to hunt us. This was Bella’s first time seeing so many different animals and her first time sleeping in a hotel. The whole family had a blast! Bella would definitely recommend the Safari to other little monsters.
One mommy’s friends was moving to Vancouver BC, and decided to stop by on their drive up from Temecula. We all went to Typhoon for dinner and enjoyed one another’s company as we played pass the baby. It was nice seeing mommy’s friends.
Halloween is the night when all the little monsters get together and have fun! For Bella’s first Halloween, she was dressed as a flower/ghost and spent her time SLEEPING DURING COSMIC BOWLING!!! Daddy kicked mommy’s butt at bowling…but of course, she let him win. :)
Mommy, daddy, and I carved our pumpkins with the help of Tiger. Being the hardcore OHSU student, Daddy attempted to carve teeth. Mommy decided to not do the Greek Pi this year and went for a more traditional to “BOO” and a spider’s web in the corner. And my pumpkin was the best! It’s a Baby Pumpkin…literally.
Mommy and daddy took me up to Seattle to visit all the Fugere family. Boy are those people crazy fun. The dogs ran around like crazy while my cousin screamed at them with excitement. Daddy got a cool leopard/cheetah print snuggy. My aunt and uncle cooked a yummy lasagna and salad, and their new house is SO pretty. It was really fun.
Okay, I need all of your help. Willie has pushed the blog off onto me, and I want it to look just as cute as your guys' does! How do you get a pretty background that's not available in the template section?
Bella got SO many cute clothes, we wanted to make sure and show it all off. On the left, you'll find a fashion show of all her Newborn Clothes!! Isn't she just so cute?
Bella went to her first pumpkin patch on October 10. She was dressed as a little ghost, and was just so cute in all the pumpkins. Mommy and Daddy found their own big pumpkins, and Mommy found a pumpkin just Bella’s size.
At just 10 days old, we took Bella to her first photo shoot. The slideshow can be found at the left. We had a blast and she is just SO cute. These are professionally done, so if you want to copy and print them, you’ll need a copy of our permission letter from the photographer. Just let us know.
Gary and Libby came to visit and help with the new baby during her first week of life. They helped with everything, and definitely made life easier: changed her, played with her, washed her, and bought her some a swing and bobby. Oh my gosh! We don’t know what we’d do if it wasn’t for that swing! Bella doesn’t like to sleep on her back like she’s supposed to; she loves to sleep on her stomach. So, some nights are a little more difficult than others, and she’d rather sleep in the swing than in her crib. The constant rocking motion and vibrator all help to put her to sleep and keep her asleep. It’s great!
Bella was blessed and confirmed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on October 11. The Puls family and the Fugere family were able to make the wonderful occasion. And it was a special one! Bella was blessed in a gown that her Great-Great-Grandfather, Great Grandma, Grandma, and mom were blessed in. This gown is almost 100 years old!!!! It was had stitched and made by her Great-Great-Great Grandmother! And we have every intension on keeping the tradition of first borns being blessed in it. You can find pictures of the blessing in a slideshow at the left.
The Fugere clan came to visit, and Bella got to meet her older cousin. Emaline (spelling?) had a blast holding such a small baby. They’re going to be such good friends in just a few short years.
Bella is a good little helper. Daddy was folding the laundry, and she made sure the clothes didn’t run away. She had a blast sitting in the warm clothes and helping. She’s a better helper than her older brother, Tiger.
